creative writer and drama teacher

A bit about me

I’ve written two novels with the wonderful girls of Limpsfield Grange M IN THE MIDDLE and M IS FOR Autism published by Jessica Kingsley.

My books have been featured ON BBC Radio 4, The Guardian, The Telegraph, ITV’s This Morning and BBC Radio London and BBC 5 Live

The books have been published in to Spanish and Danish and I’m very proud to have spoken at lots of festivals and conferences including the portrayal of Autism in Children’s Literature at Sheffield Hallam University conference

My books and approach to writing were recently the topic a seminar Children’s Literature at Cambridge University

And I’ve just started writing a novel in Moss Side, Manchester, working with a group of teenage girls to create a young female hero that reflects their lives and ambitions. To be published 2019 by Zuntold Publishers.

I enjoy writing collaboratively and incorporating drama and often use theatrical approaches to develop story lines and characters. It helps bring writing alive and a great way for people to contribute their ideas and voices to a final piece. I think it’s important for people to have their voices heard and I love being part of that process.

I’ve also wrote SUN AND HEIR, a large scale, site specific piece for the Royal Opera House Education Department, which was performed at Tilbury Docks in 2008

I studied Drama at Hope University, Liverpool and gained an MPhil in Playwriting from Birmingham University and now when not writing I design and deliver lots of creative writing workshops. More about that on my workshop page.

I live in London.
